Preventive Maintenance, Repair, and Field Service for Weighing and Force Measurement Systems

A drifting load cell or a failing instrument rarely costs only a spare part. It costs rejected batches, stopped lines, and readings you can no longer trust. BLH Nobel keeps that from happening with weighing system preventive maintenance, force measurement equipment repair, and on site field service for the load cells, instruments, transducers, and complete systems your process depends on. As part of Vishay Precision Group, we work in more than 100 countries, supported by service centers in Karlskoga, Sweden and Wendell, North Carolina.

Service that Protects Uptime and the Integrity of your Data

Industrial measurement equipment seldom fails all at once. It drifts, loses sensitivity, and corrodes at the connections until the numbers quietly stop matching reality. A planned service relationship catches that decline early and turns it into scheduled, budgeted work instead of an emergency call.

  • Less unplanned downtime Catching wear before it becomes a fault keeps production moving and removes the scramble of sourcing parts and engineers under pressure.
  • Measurements you can defend Documented inspection and traceable performance give your quality and compliance teams evidence that stands up to an audit.
  • More life from your assets Many BLH Nobel systems run accurately for decades, and regular care, repair, and the right parts protect that investment instead of replacing it early.

What our Service Teams Deliver

  • Preventive maintenance Scheduled inspection and functional testing of load cells, weigh modules, instruments, and complete systems, with a documented report after every visit.
  • Repair and replacement Load cell repair and targeted weigh module replacement, with diagnosis of zero drift, signal loss, and mechanical damage before any full unit swap.
  • Instrument service Weighing instrument repair, configuration, and firmware review for the current G6 and G5 platforms, and for earlier generations such as the G4 still working in the field.
  • Specialized systems Tension measurement system maintenance for web and strip lines, pressure transmitter repair for process and offshore duty, and hydraulic positioning system maintenance for sawmills.
  • Field service and diagnostics On site field service plus remote weighing system troubleshooting, so a fault is isolated fast, whether the cause is a setting, a cable, or a sensor.
  • Genuine parts and stock Genuine spare parts for weighing equipment kept available to shorten turnaround, backed by the engineers who built the original system.

A Preventive Maintenance Plan Built Around your Process

A preventive maintenance service agreement replaces unplanned breakdowns with a routine you can plan and cost in advance. We set the visit interval to match your environment, the demanding lines more often and the stable ones less, and report on what we find each time.

Because the schedule is agreed up front, you can budget service, book it around production windows, and show auditors a clear record of due diligence. Regular calibration runs alongside this work through our accredited force laboratory, which has held ISO 17025 accreditation since 1984. See the Calibration page for traceable calibration.

A typical plan includes:

  • Scheduled site visits at intervals matched to your conditions
  • Inspection and functional testing of cells, instruments, and accessories
  • Cleaning and tightening of mountings and connections
  • Configuration and firmware review on current instruments
  • Worn parts replaced from stock during the visit
  • A documented service report you can hand to compliance

Answers that Help you Make the Call

How do you keep this equipment performing?
Maintaining industrial measurement equipment is about catching change early and acting on evidence rather than guesswork. Clean and inspect the sensors and mounting hardware, run scheduled checks against a known reference, and watch for drift and unstable readings. Protect cabling and connections from moisture, vibration, and temperature swings, and log every check so the next problem is quick to diagnose. In tougher conditions, tighten the interval.

What are the signs a system needs repair?
A few patterns are reliable warnings: readings that will not return to zero when the load is removed, results that disagree between repeated weighings, a slow or laggy response, sudden noise or jumps in the signal, visible corrosion or damage, and instruments that throw errors or lose communication. Any one of these is a reason to begin weighing system troubleshooting before the problem reaches your product. If basic checks do not clear it, our engineers can take over remotely or on site.

Can you still support legacy and discontinued products?
Yes. We provide legacy weighing system support for older load cells, earlier instrument generations, and systems inherited over long service lives. In many cases we repair or recalibrate the original unit, or supply spare parts for weighing equipment that has left the current catalog. Where a sensor is sound but its instrument is obsolete, we can often bridge it to a modern platform so you keep the value of a good installation. When a part truly reaches end of life, we help you plan an orderly transition rather than an emergency replacement.

When should you repair, modernize, or replace?
The right answer depends on condition, cost, and risk, not age alone. Repair an isolated fault on an otherwise sound system, for example a single damaged cell that justifies a targeted weigh module replacement rather than a rebuild. Modernize when the sensors are healthy but the instrument limits you, such as moving from a G4 up to the current G6 platform. Replace when repair costs approach new equipment or spares are running short. Our engineers give you an honest read on all three options.
